The Carnival Arts group have a proven track record of working in schools and
have been involved in one off or week long residencies. In main stream and
specialist schools, both large and small, we are able to develop appropriate and
stimulating workshops.
We
are committed to creating an environment where children can express ideas and
experiment with confidence regardless of age and ability. In preparation we
work closely with the staff, and during a residency re-evaluate to ensure
workshops are designed to the correct level, whilst following elements of the
national curriculum as required by each individual school.
For example, in one school we ran a week
of printing projects, with each class experimenting with a different type of
printing technique. Each class then used their chosen printing technique to
explore another part of the curriculum, one class used their finished pieces to
illustrate a literacy project, another created posters advertising their local
area as part of a local history project and another created William Morris
inspired wall paper as a part of an art history and design project.
In
other schools we have created larger than life Alice in Wonder Land characters, carnival
projects and a rain forest instillation using withies. On other occasions we
have made puppets, masks, banners and even Christmas decorations.
We
also run workshops for staff prior to our workshops when appropriate. This can
bring staff together and give them the chance to get to know us and share
skills.
The Carnival Arts Group offers a wide range of workshops and activities, we are
flexible in our approach and always aim to create an enjoyable and memorable
experience.
